NEW* D2Cv2 Wii Moddable With Latest D2pro9 v2
Posted on September 5th, 2008 at 10:31 pm by Jason@TeamXmods

If your surprised to find your latest wii mod-install project ending in fail, you probably have the new* pesky D2Cv2 motherboard. Your old modchips wont work with this one. As of the time writing this, you will need to get the D2pro9 v2 (note: the D2Pro9 V2 is recommended over the V3 as the V3 has a few firmware issues with the D2C / D2C2 chipset).

Wiikey Update for “Super Smash Bros. Brawl” 1.9s
Posted on March 26th, 2008 at 7:42 pm by Jason@TeamXmods
Wiikey.cn/ is back and opens with a new update for older Wii systems containing the Wiikey. Wiikey has all the needed features and is still considered the best chip for old wiis. People have reported problems updating so there are info/tutorial links in the comments.
wiikey update 1.9s…

SSBB Answers to faq?
1. New System UPDATE 3.2U is out and it’s safe for Wiikey, also safe for SMG and SSBB games.
2.You will need to first update your Wii to 3.2 before using 1.9s disc.
3.You need to burn your ssbb game backup to DVD+R DL and then let the game update to 100%. Don’t forget to set the layer break in imgburn. Update again if needed. The first update is not the same as the second.
4. When updating your wiikey you do not need to update with 1.9b before using 1.9s.
5. Burn the update and config disc to dvd-r.
6. Use “Filechop” and pad your 1.9s .iso’s to 1.35gigs before burning just to be safe. If you dont want to deal with this just download a prechopd version and unrar. People have had problems running the image without filechopping.

Which D2C Wii modchip is better? Argon vs d2pro
Posted on February 19th, 2008 at 9:11 pm by Jason@TeamXmods

With the new wave of 2nd gen D2c modchip solutions becoming available, customers will need to make a decision between the Argon(InFeCtuS) and the D2Pro(D2CKey Team). 15 wire for D2pro install and 13 for the Argon depending on if you need region free or not. Not to be confused with the D2CPro which is a clone of the d2ckey.
Both chips are upgradeable. Having an upgradeable chip adds an important security feature. If Nintendo attacks with a new firmware update it’s possible you can reprogram the new programmable chips with a newly released firmware fix to get backups working again. It is believed but not confirmed that the programmer will be a valuable weapon in future proofing your wii.
D2Pro Vs Argon
Will probably come down to supply, pricing, and response to firmware issues if any arise.

New Argon D2c WiiChip From InFeCtuS (13 wires)
Posted on January 4th, 2008 at 9:04 pm by Jason@TeamXmods
New D2C wiiChip named “Argon” from team Enigma, also responsible for the universal
InFeCtuS modchip and newly announced InFeCtuS2 now titled “Wiiktus” has released details on this amazing slim 13 wire Argon install. The D2cKey (alternative from team Wiikey) has a 29 wire install and requires risky soldering to the IC legs, so obviously this is a huge labor reduction.
Warning!!
These chips are sold exclusively at hardstore.com. This means you will pay more for shipping. I believe the cost is around $58 for the chip with an elevated shipping cost on top of that. If you can find them in the US (mod-shops) you will get quicker shipping but expect to pay more because of the shipping premium. If you order from hardstore.com in the US and need to return the chip (for any reason) the costs for return shipping makes it economically unwise.

C4eva has released new hacked firmwares for the BenQ Xbox360 dvd drive. iXtreme BenQ v1.1 rev 2 and a regular Xtreme version. Beware of using the Xtreme FW online without properly stealth patched games or you will get banned. With the ixtreme Rev2 you have the option to choose a custom drive read speed. Most people use fast 12X because its fast loading(12X is the default speed for unmodded drives) and sound levels stay the same. The 8X setting is also nice if your drive is too loud for you or your having trouble reading dvd+r dl verbatim media. Special thanks goes to C4eva.

79fk-fl 360 Drives Need 9wire Chip & Epoxy Removal
Posted on August 8th, 2007 at 7:37 pm by Jason@TeamXmods
If you buy a new xbox 360 chances are you will receive the 79fk-fl Hitachi, BenQ, or less likely the Samsung dvd-drive. These new 79 drives require a 9 wire passkey chip installed if you want it to play backups. The 79FL is mod-able with the Maximus 79passkey. There is also another obstacle in the way of modding these new 79 drives. Black epoxy covers the connection area preventing access. This is not normal epoxy, its very strong. The suggested removal technique is using a (heat gun) or Weller® (pyropen) with a hot air nose tip.
I decided to try my (rotary tool $35) or dremel and scrape the epoxy off uncovering the traces. I then used a razor blade to finish it up. I would say it worked great for me but I’m not sure I would recommend it to anyone who thinks they may mess something up because its real easy to brick your drive like this. The hot air gun is also a risk, but may be easier if your not skilled with a dremel.
Again, contact someone to do this for you if your not confident yourself. If you have any questions feel free to ask.

New Wii’s Have Cut IC Legs and Missing Pad 3
Posted on August 5th, 2007 at 7:05 pm by Jason@TeamXmods
Newly acquired USA NTSC nintendo wii consoles with serial numbers that start with LU51526**** and up will have cut legs. Enter your serial number here
(wii-tracker) to find out for sure. These systems are still d2b chips, so rebuilding to the ic leg still works. These new wii motherboards require the delicate grinding down of the wafer on the ic chip. It’s suggested that you find a reputable local or ship-in Console Repair Specialist for soldering & microchip installation services.
Feel free to email any xbox/360/wii/ps2-3 questions..

Hackers Release iXtreme Firmware to Stop Bannings
Posted on May 30th, 2007 at 8:15 pm by Jason@TeamXmods
A new firmware replacement for the TS-H943 xbox360 drive..
Features:
(v1.2) Extra verification performed on Stealth backups
Note: The extra features added in both 1.1(not public) and 1.2 release are directly related to security. A security-hole was found after 1.1, which lead to the jump in version numbers.
We strongly advise that you upgrade from 1.0 to 1.2 in the near future for the safety of your xbl account. Currently, 1.0 is safe, but in the future there will undoubtedly be new checks that 1.2 addresses!
The Hitachi Version of iXtreme is currently available also.

WiiKey Throned Dominant Wii Modchip! Buy Clones?
Posted on April 28th, 2007 at 11:07 am by Jason@TeamXmods
Have you decided to finally get your Wii modded or do-it-yourself? Here’s some great info & tutorials to help you plan and avoid noob wii modding mistakes.
Should you purchase a wiikey clone or spend the extra for a genuine. This decision is completely up to you, but you must know that the wiikey clones I have used are just like the originals (1:1 copy). If you want to save some credits and still get a functional wii modchip you’ll probably find the $11 clone satisfactory. The purchase of the authentic wiikey is approx $29. Here is a discussion on this topic for more info…

Once you have your chip you can begin the wii case disassembly process. Here is a link to a great tutorial.
Once you have the wii open here is a link for a great wiikey solder install tutorial.
